The judge said: "As monochrome images go this one is just stunning for me. And though up against some excellent colour images in its class, it just edges it. The worker has captured and displayed the feel of the misty woodland scene so brilliantly well, with white through to different shades of grey throughout, then the dark blacks at the base of the tree trunks which also add to the overall feel and impact of the shot. A very different shot from the norm."
